What kind of RVs do you rent?
Class A's, Class C's, Toy Haulers, Pop-Ups, 5th Wheels and Travel Trailers. Our web site lists the types and sizes of vehicles we rent.
How do I find out about prices?
We rent RVs all year long. We do not have a down season. Our busiest rental months are from May 1st through September 30th. Rates are automatically calculated and sent to the renter by filling out the "Get Pricing" link (on the top left of this page).
Can I rent an RV for 1 or 2 days?
Normally, no. Most RVs have a 7 day rental minimum during peak season. Some RV's will rent for a minimum for 3 days. Read the page for the RV your are considering for your vacation. Each RV is managed by its owner and therefore can be different. Some weeks may permit short rentals. Speak with our booking agent for further information.
What about mileage?
Our owners offer 60 miles per day included in the daily rental rate. Additional miles are calculated between .35 to .55 per mile. Time of year and distance to be traveled affect these numbers. Our papework has no hidden fees. If you properly estimate the miles you will be traveling we can better calculate your pricing.
Are there other charges to consider?
Above the base rate of your rental, there are fees for any extras you may decide to go with, such as hospitality kits, kitchen kits, emergency road kits, camping kits, or extra insurance. If your RV is equipped with a generator there is a per hour fee on its use which is calculated after your rental minus the free hours that were allowed. The average rate for this is $3.00. Also, before returning your RV it is required that you clean the RV so that it is ready for use for the next renter. If you return the RV in a condition that is not clean and ready for use, you will be charged with a cleaning fee.
Don't forget the cost of gas! Of course, we don't charge you for gas and your vehicle will come pre-filled when you pick it up. Upon returning the vehicle, as in any car rental, you will need to fill the gas tank as it was when you picked it up. Don't forget to calculate your total gas expenditures into your budget for the trip if you're traveling long distance. We advise our customers, if they haven't already, to sign up to any of the major gas station gas credit cards to take advantage of member discounts and other benefits to save on gas expenses.
Once your RV is returned there is also an extra per mile fee for any mileage over the free or pre-purchased amounts. Costs vary from gas to diesel. We have no hidden fees. All prices are clearly stated on your rental contract.
Are RVs hard to drive?
Not really. Do keep in mind that they are large and heavy vehicles with poor visibility towards the rear. They also don't fit in the "compact car" parking stalls, so plan your trip accordingly. We have made a 2 page informational sheet available on this website in the "Other Resources" link to the left of this screen. It should help you with driving an RV. Print it and take it with your on your vacation.
What type of gas mileage should we expect to get?
This depends on the size of your vehicle and where you take it. The normal flat road driving average is about 9 miles to the gallon.
What are standard pick-up and drop off times for RVs?
Many RV owners are able to be flexiable with their pick and drop off times. These times MUST be coordinated between the renter (YOU) and the RV owner, in advance. Open communication between you and the owner is the best policy. Let our rental agent know what your requested pick up and drop off times are so we can note it in the owners paperwork.
What about "dump stations" and water?
Most RV owners will have the water and dump tanks prepared for your trip. Most camping facilities offer a dump station. Fees will apply if you return the RV without emptying the dump tanks. You do not have to refill the water.
Are there late fees for returning the vehicle late?
Yes. Each owner is different. Normally most will have flexible drop off times; however, we DO charge for late returns. Keep in mind that if you arrive late, someone else maybe sitting there waiting to take the RV back out that same day or the next morning. I'm sure if you were the one waiting for a late return, you would not be happy! Please don't mess up someone else's vacation by returning late. Communication is always the best policy. Be sure to keep your RV Owner informed.
What about insurance?
Many of the better insurance companies will allow you to add the RV to your exising policy either for a very low fee or for free. Example: AAA has this option available for their customers. If your insurance company does not then the RV owner's Rental Policy will have to be turned on for that month and your daily rental rate may go up or other fee added to defray that action. Even so, If you are an international travler you are required to purchase the above mention insurance. Please let the agent know immediately of your insurance coverage.
Would I need leveling blocks?
Yes. It is suggested to bring leveling blocks so that you can properly level the RV when you are sitting somewhere that might be unlevel. RV Refrigerators will not work if the RV is sitting on unlevel ground. Many class-A (Bus style) RV's have built in leveling. Check the RVs page for those details.
How is a breakdown handled?
The most common breakdown is tire damage and it usually happens upon your return trip. This is due to the renter not checking tire pressure every morning. When one of the tires start loosing pressure and is drove it causes the tread to rip off the tire and damage the underside of the RV. RVs are large trucks and you cannot change the tire yourself. A mobile truck tire repair company will have to be called and tell them what the numbers on your RV tires are so they can bring a replacement tire and mount it on your rim. Then remount the tire back on the RV. Each owner services and maintains their own vehicle. However in the case of a breakdown most owners will preauthorize up to $100 for service and can offer authorization of a larger repair by calling them. (You MUST keep all receipts.) As a renter you ARE resposible for all tire failure and damage the failed tire causes. Check your tire pressures EVERY DAY prior to driving. Most RV Tire presures are 70-100LBS. Check your tire for its required pressure. All truck stops will have a way for you to check your tire pressure.
What happens if the RV is not available due to a prior renter?
The Rental Agency will do their very best and try to locate a replacement RV. But keep in mind, each RV owner will determine the rentability of their rig and we have never had an RV come back so damaged enough that it could not be rented out to the next person waiting. That statement is based on over 2000 rentals!
Can we tow a boat or trailer with our rental RV?
Normally yes! Even our smallest Class-C can tow a small trailer. If you want to tow a boat or race car trailer your will need to rent one of our Class-A motorhomes. Call our office for more information. There is a towing charge to help cover the extra wear and tear on the brakes, transmission and tires. All RVs in our fleet will have a lock or seal on the hitch receiver. If the lock or seal is removed (for ANY reason) you will be charged a towing fee. No exceptions!
Why do I have to pay a security deposit?
The deposit amount is based on the deductible of the insurance used to insure the RV during your rental. Nearly every insurance company in the United State has their prices set to either $500 or $1000. No insurance company will insure you using an RV if they do not have a deposit being held that at least equals the amount of the deductible of the insurance policy. In essence your security deposit is paid to the insurance company as the insurance deductible if the RV is damaged during your rental. We take the damaged RV and get an estimate from another company that is going to fix it (one that the insurance company has approved and trusts). That company sends the insurance company their estimate to put the RV back to 100% (fix what got broken). They fix it, we go pick it up and get it back out on the road. If you don't damage the vehicle, the insurance company doesn't require your deposit. If the damage is less the your deposit, we will return the unused portion after the RV is fixed. Please be careful, we do not want your trip to end badly or anyone to get hurt.
What happens if I have to cancel my trip?
That depends on your decision to purchase "Travel Insurance" or not. Travel industry experts recommend that you purchase a travel insurance plan that includes Trip Cancellation. Each insurance company has their own requirements. Carefully review any policy you are considering. If you feel there is a chance you may have to cancel you should immediately purchase an above mentioned policy. The only way to receive a refund is through an above mention insurance policy. The travel insurance company requires you to purchase their insurance within a few days of initial booking of the RV. Contact them for any specifics. Each owner may handle this situation differently but as a general rule, their are no cancellations.
How does the rental program work?
All of the RVs listed on our website are housed by their owners. As the renter, you fill out the 'Pricing' page to get your quote, we (RV Booking Agency) handle getting your vacation booked. We will send documents for you to sign. Once we have received back your signed documents, they will be forwarded to the RV Owner. The Owner will send you a PayPal link, (PayPal account is NOT required), requesting money to pay for the RV Rental. Once you have paid the RV is BOOKED and cannot be renter out from under you. Prior to your rental date an email with a map link showing where to pick up the RV will be sent. You pick up the RV from a pre-determined location reflected on the map link directly from the owner.
Why rent from us rather than a traditional RV rental center ?
When you rent your RV from a private owner rather than a rental center, you know that the RV will be in good condition because the owner uses the RV for their own enjoyment as well and they certainly don't want you having problems during your trip. Many times the RV will have amenities left in the vehicle for your enjoyment. Additionally, you will be able to get individual attention from the owner that you may not get from a large rental center. As an agency we survey all renters and ask what issues they had with the vehicle so we can monitor the quality of the fleet. If we see a pattern of complaints on any vehicle we will work with the owner to fix these issues or the RV will be removed from our fleet.
Is a security deposit required?
Yes. It will normally be either $500 or $1000 depending on the RV you are renting. The deposit must either be paid at the time of booking or you will hand carry CASH and give it to the owner when you arrive to pick up the RV. At the conclusion of the trip the security deposit will return, minus any damage or overage of mileage etc.
